Arran Gems – Jewellery and Art by Assja Baumgärtner-Gaile

Southend Studios at Kilmory Hall Kilmory Hall Kilmory

The Isle of Arran, nature, architecture, mythology and travelling are the inspiration for my work. In my studio, I create jewellery and decorative items, paint and draw.

Over the years, I have come to use more and more reclaimed, repurposed and recycled materials for my jewellery and materials like copper wire and tubes stripped from discarded building material, sea glass, pebbles, discarded beads, textiles and – lately – silver clay (containing 999 silver reclaimed industrial products) are among my favourite materials.

At least 80% of my jewellery and ornaments are now made from reclaimed materials because I believe that sustainability and beauty don’t exclude each other.

OPENING HOURS

My core hours are Wed, Thur, Fri, Sat 11am – 3pm I’m usually earlier and longer in my studio, and often – particularly during the summer – also on Sundays, and I’m very flexible. Just pm or email me.
